Things to See in Helsinki
There are lots of things to see in Helsinki. I made a video of some of my favorite things to do there.
One of my favorite places to go to in Helsinki is the island of Suomenlinna, that is in front of Helsinki. Suomenlinna is an old fortress that was built in the 18th century to protect the city of Helsinki in case of an attack. The island is very cool because it just looks like grass and hills when looking at it from a boat, but in reality there are stone structures underneath the grass and hills. Smart thinking. You can walk around the old fortress and see the old cannons. People still live on the island now. They only way they can get home is by a boat.
I also like the ornate looking churches in Helsinki: Helsinki Cathedral, Uspenski Cathedral and Temppelinaukion kirkko.
For the music lover there is also the famous monument for composer Jean Sibelius in Helsinki. He composed The Finlandia – which is probably his most famous work.
Last week I made a video about a small place in Finland, called Tohmajarvi. To learn more about Finland, check out that post too.
