Aroa Beachside Inn Rarotonga
I stayed at the Aroa Beachside Inn Rarotonga when visiting the Cook Islands for the second time. The first time I stayed at Muri Beachcomber, which I really loved.
When arriving at Aroa Beachside, the receptionist was really friendly and talkative. She told us that the owners were not around like they usually are. She was very pleasant to deal with.
We needed to leave early in the morning to go Aitutaki, so we would not be able to get the usual breakfast at breakfast time. But the Inn was very nice and brought as some toast and fruits the night before so we would have it in our room before leaving early in the morning.
The room was alright. I had purchased the room from Expedia, where it said I was to be staying in a ocean view studio. After checking in I realized we could not see the ocean from the room, so I think they downgraded us… I don’t think I ended up getting what I paid for.
The room itself had a small kitchen facility, a patio and a queen size bed. The shower in the bathroom had great water pressure. A big negative was that the room had no air conditioner. I usually don’t even use the air conditioner, but it got so hot that it was pretty unbearable. We heard the couple next door leave because it was too hot and go to another hotel.
The place feels a little bit like a backpacker type place rather than a family or honeymoon location.
The hotel had a bar/restaurant by the beach. It seemed very busy. We didn’t end up eating there, but headed to one of my favorite restaurants in the Cook Islands, Vili’s Burger Joint.
The beach in front of Aroa Beachside Inn Rarotonga is beautiful. The beach front near the restaurant has some hammocks and sun chairs for use.
Overall the stay was fine. I just wish there was an air conditioner and an actual view of the ocean in the ocean view room.
